Features

The CHR-70 shares the custom build heritage of Markaudio's high-end Alpair driver family. The CHR-70's cone and cap employ all-new profiles on a new aviation grade aluminium alloy. Used together with Markaudio's coating technology, the CHR-70 delivers one of the best overall performances in its class.

Colours

The CHR-70 has clean styling and a choice of either cool-grey or rich-gold colours. The blend of style and colour choices with class-leading performance and professional design makes the CHR-70 is an excellent lower-cost, high-value audio driver.

Performance

CHR70 Chassis

The chassis (frame) is a new one-piece injection moulded unit employing a double polymer mix to deliver the required rigidity without the ringing interference frequencies generated by some pressed metal and die-cast frames.

  • Very wide frequency range.
  • Large stable Xmax.
  • Excellent off-axis performance.
  • 100% custom designed and made.
  • Available in middle gold and grey colours.

What's New?

New Features

Easy Installation

The CHR-70 is supplied with high quality hex drive M4 size black, powder coated wood screws and a 2mm PVA cabinet seal for easy installation. store-screws-seal

Multiform Cones and Caps

Metal cones are traditionally made by spinning the metal sheet as the material is pushed on to a former by hand. This can cause unwanted variations in the cone surface. A new 7 stage CNC controlled production process now manages the cutting, forming and shape adjustment for the new multiform CHR70 cones and caps. The driver has a tighter fit of cap to cone and improved smoothness of the it's contours.

Revised Spider

A reshaped spider improves LF oscillation and lowers the Fo. The main benefit of the improved spider is in the production tolerance. The old spider was made to a stiffness rating of 1.3/50g @ +/-1.5, which was already better than most commercial drivers. Now they are nade to 1.4/50g @ +/-1.2. All of our spiders can now be much more closely matched. Tests show spiders now being within +/-3Hz Fo of each other.

Mounting Holes

Larger mounting holes (now 4.1mm) are suitable for M4 wood screws. The CHR70 are now supplied with black powder-coated M4 Hex wood screws. Once you’ve made the driver cut-out in your cabinet, offer up the driver and use a 4mm drill bit in each hole to mark the centre only. Having marked the drill point, remove the driver and drill with a 2.8mm wood bit for a perfect fit. The supplied seals now have an increased thickness of 2mm.
