I had a pair of Jordan JX92s' and now I have a pair of Alpair 10's. The Alpairs are superior drivers. They both appear to have the same cone, but that's where it ends. The biggest problem with the JX92 was the Vifa frame - it was real hard to find a pair that didn't have cracked frame ( personally endured the arrival of three broken drivers before getting a pair of good ones) . Here is one instance where the plastic frame of the Alpair is superior to the cast frame of the Jordan. The Alpair has +/- 8.5mm of Xmax and a very nicely designed suspension. This is quite remarkable for a 5" driver with only 8 grams of Mms! My Alpairs measured 41Hz Fs right out of the box too, without any break-in. This appears to be an excellent little driver. There are a lot of people out there that scoff at a full-range driver, and I understand their limitations in the top octave. But, the perfect phase coherence is something you won't get anywhere else, so it might be worth a try. However, for those who don't like the idea of a full-ranger - I'm not sure why this driver isn't brought up in discussions regarding the ultimate midrange drivers out there today. This would have to be way up there on my list of those. It would also work very well as a midbass crossed to a very good tweeter.
